Becoming a host

What It Takes

There is currently some two hundred and fifty - (250) Host Employers within the Network. These establishments are diverse and range from clubs, hotels, motels, restaurants, caterers, hospitals, cafes and more.  A commitment to quality training is paramount and therefore each Host employer should have staff with relevant training and experience commensurate to the Apprentice/Trainees training agenda. As Apprenticeships and Traineeships are essentially "entry level" to industry, there should also be provision for adequate supervision at a Host employer’s establishment.

HTN has a "duty of care" to ensure that Apprentices and Trainees are training in a safe work environment and therefore place an emphasis on all aspects of occupational health and safety.  HTN is pleased to provide assistance and support to Host Employers in the areas of risk management and safe work systems.  To download the NSW Department of Education and Training's Guide to Supervising an Apprentice or Trainee click here.
